Symptoms of Candida Esophagitis

An aggravating oral yeast or fungal infection that starts in the mouth and can spread down the esophagus to the stomach is known as Candida esophagitis. Candida comes from the name of a yeast. There is no age group or sex, which are insusceptible to yeast infections. Anyone can be infected. However, those with weakened immune systems seem to suffer the most because they are not able to fight off the infection as if someone with a healthy immune system.

Yeast infections are probably mostly known for their invasion of men and women’s private areas. However, they can also be found in our mouths and throat. Not only do both sexes suffer from yeast infections, so do children and the elderly. Some of the most prominent signs of Candida esophagitis are a sore mouth and burning in the throat, oral lesions and fever. A few other symptoms include a white and coated tongue, and cracking in the corners of the mouth. Also, if someone is suffering from sugar cravings or craving for foods containing yeast, including bread and alcohol, accompanied by muscle pains, depression, and the tendency to be tired often, they could be suffering from a yeast infection in their throat or mouth.

There are several groups of people who may suffer increased risks of developing a yeast infection in the throat including those suffering from aids, cancer, diabetes, organ transplant recipients, and anyone who has a thyroid disorder, because their immune systems have been broken down. Their risks of contracting oral thrush and yeast infections in general are higher than the average person, because of a weakened immune system.

Treatment for those with weakened immune systems may vary and last longer than those who are healthy. When treating someone who is healthy and has developed an oral or throat yeast infection the normal protocol is the use of antifungals administered through a tablet or injection.

For someone who has suffered from a yeast infection, prevention methods are very important. The infections are very aggravating and can be painful in the mouth or throat when trying to swallow. What leads to Candida in the throat is when someone develops Candidiasis in their intestines, which then spread to other areas of the body. The intestines are the major place where the Candida organism reside and can grow out of control, leading to complications throughout the body.

A healthy immune system is very important. Treating Candida esophagitis in most cases should be routine, but things such as a hole in the esophagus, recurring infections, and if an infection spreads to another part of the body, may cause problems with treatment.

A stricter diet will probably be prescribed for anyone suffering from a yeast infection, including avoiding foods containing yeast such as beer, bread, carbohydrates and some dairy products. Disinfect your brush by setting it in 70 percent of alcohol or hydrogen peroxide for a few minutes between brushes to keep from re-infecting yourself when brushing.

In order to try to prevent future Candida esophagitis infections, a daily vitamin, iron supplement or acidophilus should help. One could also introduce grape fruit seed extract, grape seed oil, gentian, caprian tea, homeopathic Candid Silicea and Artemisia to their daily regimen to try to avoid developing infections.

For anyone who develops symptoms of Candida esophagitis, especially those with a repressed immune system, they should seek medical attention. Try to keep yourself educated on the Candida organism and how it functions within the compromised body.
