The fact is it is often hard to diagnose the overgrowth of Candida in the body.  Unless it presents itself in an obvious way such as the thick cottage cheese like discharge of the vaginal area.  The Candida species attack the body and present themselves in many ways.

It may be necessary for a doctor to perform a couple of test to be certain that you have this condition.  A culture is often taken and placed under a microscope.  Blood test can also measure increased antibodies to the Candida yeast.  Many doctors miss diagnose unless it is the more common vaginal or oral Candida infection.  However, the Candida overgrowth can occur in any of the bodies mucus membranes.

The affects of this type of infection are felt on many systems of the body.  These negative effects are felt by: the brain, nervous system, endocrine, urinary, reproductive, respiratory, lymphatic, and more.

Generally symptoms fall into seven categories.

1.  Rashes and itching are two symptoms that fall into the category of skin symptoms.  These are perhaps the easiest to spot.  The reason genital infections occur is they are dark and damp areas.  Just like other bacteria this can be a breeding ground for Candida albicans and other types of Candida.

2.  The respiratory system can also be affected.  This results in coughing and tightness in the chest.  Here is the first sign of why it can be hard to diagnose.  These are common symptoms that can be attributed to so many other conditions.

3.  The system of the reproductive organs and urinary system.  Burning, itching, pain during sex, cramps and vaginal discharge are among this category of Candida symptoms.

4.  Stomach related such as heartburn, belching, and diarrhea.

5.  General symptoms such as drowsiness, weakness, joint pain, loss of balance and more.

6.  Other symptoms like headaches, ear infections, eye or scalp issues all center around the head.

7.  A Candida infection can also have substantial affects on a persons emotional well being.  Irritability, fogginess, depression, mood swings, and anxiety can all be related symptoms of Candida.

This was far short of the extensive list of ailments resulting from a Candida yeast infection.  However, it is a starting point for which you can begin to look at your own condition.
